Preacher Bio:

A native Marylander, Douglas is the fourth child of Rev. Douglas M. and Andrea R. Logan. Douglas began playing the piano at 5 years of age. Douglas was educated in the Prince Georges’ County Public Schools, where he graduated with honors from Northwestern High School, Hyattsville, MD. He was awarded Bachelor and Master of Science Degrees in Music Education (1998) and Choral Conducting (2003) from Morgan State University (MSU) where he was on the Dean’s List all of his college years. Douglas was a member of the world famous and well-traveled Morgan State Choir under the direction of the late Dr. Nathan M. Carter. He was privileged to study with Dr. Carter while working on his master’s degree.

Dr. Logan currently teaches choral music at Woodlawn High School. He joined the faculty of Woodlawn High School in August 2008. Preceding the position at Woodlawn, Dr. Logan taught music at Calverton Middle, Heritage High, Northern High (W. E. Dubois) Schools in Baltimore City. This is his 21st year of teaching. Dr. Logan began serving as the Minister of Music for the Maryland Baptist Convention in 2018.

Dr. Logan knew he wanted to be a musician at an early age; however, God has more in store for his life. In February 2009, Douglas accepted the call to the preaching ministry and begun his training at The Family Bible Ministries Worldwide Institute College Seminary in Baltimore, MD. He enrolled in a dual degree program and earned a Master of Divinity in Pastoral Counseling in April 2010 and a Doctor of Philosophy in Pastor Counseling and Biblical Studies in August 2010. In September of the same year, Dr. Logan enrolled in the Samuel DeWitt Proctor School of Theology at Virginia Union University. He graduated in May 2012 with a Master of Divinity degree.

Dr. Logan was the Pastor and Founder of Life Builders Community Church February 1, 2010. After four years of leading Life Builders Dr. Logan was elected Pastor of Zion Hill Baptist Church. In February 2014, Dr. Logan and all the members of Life Builders merged congregations with Zion Hill. Dr. Logan was consecrated Bishop on February 2, 2019 in the Great Commission Ministries International by Bishop Asa Armbrister.

Under Bishop Logan’s leadership the Zion Hill is continually beautifying our church. The church is currently remodeling our foyer. The church is growing and striving to become effective in all areas of ministry. We are “Effectively Seeking a Better Relationship with Christ while being a Five Star Church!” One of the highlights of worship during every service is our #SelfieInZHill moments, where the congregation pauses to take pictures with each other as we welcome our visitors and family to worship.

Bishop Logan has lead Zion Hill on several missionary trips to help other cities in our country. Bishop Logan, his wife Donnetta, and members of our church have traveled to Flint, Michigan in 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2021 and 2022. During those trips they delivered over 500,000 bottles of water. Currently they are planning a seventh trip to Flint and they plan to take at least 80,000 bottles of water (2 tractor trailer loads) in the Summer of 2023.

Bishop Logan’s heart to help doesn’t stop there. In October 2017, on his birthday weekend, Dr. Logan and two other ministers drove a trailer filled with items to help the victims of Hurricane Harvey to Houston, Texas. In November 2018, Bishop Logan and Minister Allen of Zion Hill took a trailer filled with items for the victims of Hurricane Florence to Kelley, North Carolina. In response to the water crisis in Jackson, MS, Bishop Logan, has lead mission trips to give water to the city and the Jackson Public Schools (JPS). This summer Bishop Logan lead Zion hill to donate 1080 cases of water to the Jackson Public School. 52 schools and the community liaison building received at least 20 cases of water.

This year for his birthday, Bishop asked the church to help raise money to buy gift cards for the JPS teachers. The efforts raised enough to buy 334 $15 gift cards. These gift cards where given to teachers at 5 schools in Jackson on Friday Oct. 28, 2022.

In addition, Bishop Logan continues to be a blessing to Baltimore City. On April 8, 2018, Bishop Logan partnered with Mr. Kevin Livingston, the Founder of 100 Suits, and set up a pop- up shop to give suits to men. On that Sunday afternoon, they gave 20 suits with shirts and ties to men for free. During the pandemic, Bishop arranged for weekly fresh produce distribution. Zion Hill has given well over 500,00 pounds of food through this ministry.

Bishop Logan’s future is looking very bright. He believes he is fulfilling the purpose the Lord has assigned him to complete. He enjoys sharing and doing the work of the Lord. He hopes to help other churches and ministers become energized to do great things for the Lord and seek to be more effective in ministry.

Douglas and his gorgeous wife, Donnetta, live in Rosedale, MD along with their beautiful daughter, Dontria and their handsome ten year old twin grandsons Dallin and Dion.
